Namebench программа, которая на основе настроек компьютера определяет оптимальный DNS сервер для системы. Плюсы от правильного выбора хорошего dns сервера в том что страницы в браузере начинают загружаться быстрее, скорости загрузки файлов ничуть не изменит, но зато серфинг станет с правильными настройками лучше к тому же не все DNS провайдеры своевременно обновляют фильтры по недоброжелательному коду в сети, хотя Google в этом плане скорее всего на первом месте, что обеспечивает дополнительную защиту системы, но и он далеко не идеален.
Самые известные DNS сервера это: Google Public DNS, OpenDNS, UltraDNS
Протестировав сервера у себя в первом тесте самым лучшим сервером оказался родной vt.ru, результатом второго теста стало предложение по выбору одного из местных провайдеров, что дало бы прирост 8%, что очень трудно заметить при работе в интернете потому ничего не стал изменять в настройках, но по отзывам в сети некоторым очень помогает выбор правильного сервера и прописав рекомендуемые программой по завершении теста dns сервера в качестве системных, страницы в браузере у них начинают загружаться значительно быстрее.
Окно программы
Требуется только нажать кнопку Start Benchmark и тест начнется, займет пару минут и по завершению откроется окно в браузере с отчетом. Если все устраивает, то ничего делать и не надо, если захочется выбрать другой сервер то достаточно в настройках компьютера указать его DNS адреса, пример для Google Public DNS адреса которого первый 8.8.8.8 второй 8.8.4.4.
Или прописать dns в файл /etc/resolv.conf, заменив прописанные в нем адреса
sudo nano /etc/resov.conf
и эти настройки сразу вступят в силу
